This comfortably designed program with a familiar interface that's easy to use, allows documents to be produced and saved in a number of formats, including rich text; exported as HTML; or converted to PDF. Perfect Alarm Clock: Perfect Alarm Clock is a freeware program that enables you to set infinite number of alarms, triggering on a one time, daily, or weekly basis. Perfect Alarm Clock not only plays any audio file you specify (mp3, wma, etc), but can also be used as a scheduler, to launch any application at a specified time. The program's user-friendly interface makes the operation very easy. Setting an alarm is as easy as selecting a file to play, selecting the alarm type and time, adding remarks (optional), and adding the alarm to the alarms list. FREE SECURITY / ANTIVIRUS / ANTISPYWARE LINKS:
ClamWin Antivirus: Part 1 of my personal 4-part FREE antivirus arsenal. ClamWin performs daily, hourly, etc. scans on your hard drive for malicious files. It's the most thorough scanning program I've seen. It catches lots of stuff that I've seen Norton miss. I started using this and the other parts because I was tired of Norton telling me "yes, we know about that virus, and we've figured out how to kill it, but we need for you to buy the new version before you can fix it." So get this, and get the other 3 parts, and you'll have a totally free setup which should protect you from just about everything that the baddies out there will whip up. Plus, ClamWin is updated daily, and you can set it up to get those updates every day if you like. AVG Free Antivirus: Part 2 of my personal 4-part FREE antivirus arsenal. AVG seems to do pretty well with scanning, much like ClamWin, but it really shines when catching those virus attacks that come out when you're surfing the web. This is called "Active" protection. So when some java monster tries to strike you down while you're checking out your favorite online chat room, this will put a nice wall between you and the villains. There are some extras available with the commercial version of this program, however if you use it with ClamWin and the other 2 free arsenal parts you'll find here, you will pretty much have it covered--without paying a DIME. SpyBot Search & Destroy: This is Part 3 of my personal 4-part FREE antivirus arsenal. This is a FANTASTIC free spyware removal program. It's proven itself to the online community to be very safe & effective, and it is the ONLY free program of its type that is of this caliber. The only program that even comes close is "Adaware Pro"--but Adaware costs money--and might not be any better at all. SpyBot uses the latest in detection and removal technology -- GET THIS PROGRAM OR BE SORRY. HiJackThis: Here's Part 4 of my personal 4-part FREE antivirus arsenal. HiJackThis is ONLY for really advanced computer users -- and probably is only to be used as a next-to-last resort (the real last resort being your rescue/restore disc that came with your computer). This program can help you get rid of browser hijacks, self-running tasks that attack your computer while Windows is booting, and more. It's FREE, and VERY powerful -- but be careful, it can also be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing with it. It gives you the ability to delete tasks and entries into the registry, and if you're not sure what's going on, it's easy to delete something that is really okay to be running (like, say, the operating system!). Get this, but be careful with it. Comodo Personal Firewall: Comodo Personal Firewall is a Windows 2000/XP firewall, that filters both inbound as well as outbound traffic. Among its features are the ability to detect application hijacking attempts via its application and component behaviour monitor, self protection against termination attempts by malware, protection of your PC during startup, etc. Note: they require you to activate the firewall and supply your email address. Scar5 Simple File Shredder: This is a cool little program that searches your recycle bin and all your temp folders, and shreds everything -- 7 times! That's the standard the Department of Defense uses! It also has a companion program called "Restoration" which it allows you the option of downloading, which will retrieve files you've emptied out of your recycle bin, or other deleted files, as long as they haven't been shredded already. It also gives you the option to shred your hard drive's free space, leaving no trace of anything someone else might be able to use in your empty space! Active @ Killdisk: When you use a standard delete command, or format a hard drive, it is fairly simple to recover deleted data or files from your hard drive, even if you've emptied the recycle bin. This can be a particularly bad problem if you've upgraded to a new hard drive and are looking to sell or recycle your old hard drive. Theives and no-gooders will use these simple and free utilities to restore data that could ruin your life. Active @ Killdisk is a great program which will completely wipe out your hard drive -- what we would traditionally call a "low-level format", by filling your entire hard drive with "00" zero's, wiping out partitions and/or entire drives. It doesn't matter if it's FAT, FAT32, NTFS, or LINUX... it's history. *** USE WITH CAUTION & FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! -- THIS PROGRAM CAN WRECK YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM IF USED IMPROPERLY! ***

FREE GRAPHICS LINKS: PaintStar: PaintStar is a versatile digital image processing software suitable for such tasks as retouching of photographs, composing and authoring images, image morphing, screen capture, and displaying image thumbnail in Windows Explorer context menu. It supports alpha, layer, path ,and the most common editing techniques. PaintStar has many of the tools and filters you would expect to find in commercial offerings, and some interesting extras as well. Inkscape: Inkscape is an Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Xara X using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. Supported SVG features include shapes, paths, text, markers, clones, alpha blending, transforms, gradients, patterns, and grouping. Inkscape also supports Creative Commons meta-data, node editing, layers, complex path operations, bitmap tracing, text-on-path, flowed text, direct XML editing, and more. It imports formats such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and others and exports PNG as well as multiple vector-based formats. Inkscape's main goal is to create a powerful and convenient drawing tool fully compliant with XML, SVG, and CSS standards. We also aim to maintain a thriving user and developer community by using open, community-oriented development TKexe Kalender (Calendar): This is a FREEWARE program for printing your own wall calendar -- no strings attached. It comes with a variety of cool layout templates, and even has some photos built right in! Whether you are making an appointment calendar, desk calendar, or even a multi-year calendar, this program will do it all. It allows you to customize your photo size/location/effects, font size & color, and much much more. A very versatile tool, whether you're an experienced graphic designer or a novice with a tight Christmas budget. You'll never buy another calendar! JAlbum: A really great slideshow and web album creator. This one really blew me away. This is one of those programs that makes me think, "Why did I ever waste my time with anything else?" and "Where was this program all my life?" If you look around the web site here, you'll see several places where I've got photos and pictures of all kinds of stuff. Most of those places have been made by hand, like the Wedding and Pets sections -- and it took LONG HOURS to do that stuff. But as you can see, in less time than it took me to make those simple pages, I got about 1800 more pictures up in the Photo Gallery section, using JAlbum. Piece of cake. JAlbum Skin Repository: JAlbum comes with a lot of really cool skins to make your web albums look awesome, and here's a great page where people have made their own skins for you to do your slideshows with! Wowsers! Tux Paint: Here's a great drawing program for your kids. Tux Paint is geared more for children from ages 3 to 12, and has a cute and friendly interface, big colorful buttons, and a cute mascot that encourages kids and makes learning to draw FUN and exciting! This is a great way to get kids acquainted with digital drawing. GIMP: This is an AWESOME drawing program. GIMP stands for "Gnu Image Manipulation Program". Under the Gnu Public License (GPL) agreement, GIMP stays FREE forever. Like OpenOffice, it is written by the public, and then various components are voted upon before implementation. It is touted as being the PhotoShop of the Free World. This program is amazing. If you don't want to pay all your hard-earned dollars to Adobe, Jasc, or Corel, you don't have to sacrifice a bit of quality. This program is suitable for novice to professional artists alike. IconSuite: A fully featured Icon Editor capable of creating Icon(.ico) and Cursor(.cur) files containing icons of different sizes (16x16, 32x32, 48x48) and color depths (2, 16, 256, True Color). PixelToolbox: PixelToolbox is the complete solution for designing desktop graphics for Windows. Create, edit, and apply 1-bit patterns, wallpaper tiles, icons, and cursors - all from a single integrated environment. PixelToolbox offers the standard set of painting tools along with a few filters and features not found in other software. The unique interface, tools, and workflow were engineered to maximize your creative potential.

FREE GAMES LINKS: Rolling Madness 3D: (Added March 8th, 2008) Luca Elia's AWESOME remake of the classic Atari arcade hit, Marble Madness - brought RIGHT up to speed with today's graphics & classic music! There is now a full 3D mode in addition to the usual isometric perspective one, a "pastel drawing" rendering mode and various camera placement options. The 3D engine is based on OpenGL, SDL takes care of the interaction with the OS and FMOD is used for sound. This means the game is as multi platform as possible, and non windows builds should be fairly straightforward. The whole 6 level world is present, as you will see from the screen shots. It's free and nag-free, and comes with an installer. EikSoft Games: (Added March 8, 2008) Here you will find 2D games that cover many genres. They span from puzzle, to platformer, to action and beyond. Aside from completed works, there are also a few projects that are still works in progress. It is important to note that almost all releases are accompanied with full source code. This means you have access to every line of code that went into making a particular game. For fellow programmers, this is a great opportunity to learn how to create games of your own! Smart Cook: This is a clever "Bejeweled" type game, with a fruit chef kind of theme. Simple rules, intuitive gameplay and cute sound track! Your objective is to group all fruits into sets of three. Then they'll go right into Rockin' Chef's juicer and you'll get points. The game gets progressively more and more difficult as you advance. Smart Cook is an amazingly engaging game. Chances are you will launch it "just for fifteen minutes" get unglued from your computer screen only two hours later (that, by the way is an overly optimistic scenario). There are other side effects, like office skirmishes and family quarrels about who gets to play first. You friends and family members can enjoy this pizzazz puzzle too. Simply try it 100% free, and you are guaranteed to become a Smart Cook aficionado in no time. Spice Trade: Colonize Europe! Start from nothing and dominate another continent. Spread the influence of your culture while creating your own empire! Since the 14th century, Europe has been a global super power when it started colonizing other continents. But what if history had gone a different way? What would Europe be like if Asia had prevailed? Abu Al-Qazzaz is the main character in Spice Trade. He is a poor young man from Baghdad, who has inherited a house and some land.. oh, and he wants to get married too. Abu decides to try his luck in the spice game. He has to prevent the European countries from gaining a trade monopoly. Will Abu be able to beat out the Europeans in the spice trade? Could Europe have been different? How? You decide! This game requires Java to be installed. MotoGeeks: This is a fun motocycle racing game! You get a nice top-down view, with a sort of "radar" screen that shows the road ahead. Try to pick up all the bonuses on the road, and still make it to the next checkpoint before time runs out! If you're really good, you'll beat everyone else to the finish line! Born To Be Big: Here's a cool game that is obviously based on the age-old "Chomp" game from the 8-bit history (or "Something Fishy" if you play Cell Phone games), but with snazzy new graphics and super-smooth gameplay. You are a little fish, and in order to get bigger, you gotta eat little fish, while avoiding being eaten by the bigger fish. Soon you'll be big enough to eat them, but you gotta start small. A game that's great for all ages! Babala: Babala is a simple logical game with elements of move strategy. At the start of the contest, the enemy figures "Balabaks" are situated on the playing field. In fending them off, you'll have only limited moves and shots (or laying of mines) allowed during your each round, after which the enemy is permitted a measured advance. If Balabak reaches you, you're mugged, you lose. The enemy can't shoot. Crown and Cutlass: Crown and Cutlass is a 3d pirate action/adventure game in the spirit of the old Pirates! game. It is simultaneously being developed in Linux and Windows, with a strong emphasis on cross-platform compatability. The project is still early on in development. Trackballs: A great clone of Marble Madness, right down to the steelies and squishable mini-baddies. It has a number of adjustable 3D parameters, so you're just about guaranteed that you can run it so long as you're running Windows XP or Linux. If you liked MM in its original classic glory, I'm sure you'll see this as just the next logical chapter! Cool, fun and even FUNNY at times! Glest: Here's a fantastic and beautiful FREEWARE strategy game, which is obviously based on the wildly popular WarCraft games. Not only do you get the game, which is immediately downloadable for Windows, and portable to just about any other platform (did I read correctly on the web site that they even ported it to a PLAYSTATION!?) , but you can also download level editors, a 3D exporter (so that you can edit figures and models in 3DSMax) and lots more. Virtually every aspect of the game can be customized to your own flavor! This is one that has to be seen to be believed. How can stuff this good be free?! FreeRails: The freeware community's answer to Railroad Tycoon and Railroad Tycoon 2. Me being a big fan of open source programming, I like this game. Since development on the game is not finished (and I suspect the same is true of virtually any good program anyway), it's hard to pass judgement on the interface. I think it could use a little polish. However, the game is really fun, and those of you who love Railroad games will think so, too. This is a Java game, and might require you to have Sun Microsystem's Java Web Start installed (comes with some web browsers) CrossLines: This game is a variant of the well-known game LINES. Elements on the game field must be arranged in such way, that closed contours must be formed. The user can rotate elements by pressing the right button of the mouse. The game has two modes: "Classic Mode" (new elements appear after each move of player) and "Time Race" (new elements appear in equal time intervals). Xenon 2000: If you remember the classic XENON, then you'll love to see that Bitmap Brothers has released their modern-day remake version of this top-down arcade alien shooter as freeware -- XENON 2000! Gem's Games: This site has a BUNCH of freeware games of their own, as well as some popular clone games you'll find familiar. There are also some other games you can buy, but there is a LOT of GOOD FREE STUFF here NeoWin's "Classics For Free" Forum: Here's a great resource where people have posted a bunch of great links to games from the past which have since been released as freeware or remakes. This is a neat thing for those of us who really like classic stuff more than the new-fangled. Cliff Johnson's Puzzlers: This guy has released 3 of his classic puzzle games for free download. Check them out and see what other projects he's working on. The Elder Scrolls: Arena: Bethesda Softworks, most recently famous for the sequel "Morrowind" and their game adaptation of the lincense for "Pirates of the Carribean." Their current free offering is the original "The Elder Scrolls" game, "Arena". The Ur-Quan Masters: The folks who made "Star Control II" released the source code to the public, and since they didn't do anything with it for a while, some other dudes got together and made a whole new game out of it. If you liked this classic space-shooter strategy game, there's no doubt you'll be a fan of Ur-Quan Masters! A Free & Legal game for the whole fam! Great Giant Sisters: Remember Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo? Ages ago, someone made a similar game called "Great Giana Sisters", and then as part of a game programming competition, a group of programmers made their own FREEWARE version, which they called "Giant Sisters". Check it out! You'll like it! Lure Of The Temptress: Revolution Games has recently released their hit game "Lure Of The Temptress" as a FREEWARE download directly from their site. ENJOY!

FREE SYSTEM UTILITY LINKS: CurrProcess: CurrProcess utility displays the list of all processes currently running on your system. For each process, you can view the list of all modules (DLL files) that the process loads into memory. for all processes and modules, additional useful information is also displayed: product name, version, company name, description of the file, the size of the file, and more. In addition, CurrProcess allows you to do the following actions: Change the priority of a process, Kill a process, Dump memory of process into a text file, Create HTML report containing information about a process with the list of all modules that it loads into memory, Save the list of all running processes into text or HTML file, Copy process or module information to the clipboard. NirCMD: NirCmd is a small command-line utility that allows you to do some useful tasks without displaying any user interface. By running NirCmd with simple command-line option, you can write and delete values and keys in the Registry, write values into INI file, dial to your internet account or connect to a VPN network, restart windows or shut down the computer, create shortcut to a file, change the created/modified date of a file, change your display settings, turn off your monitor, open the door of your CD-ROM drive, and more... I've tried this program, and it works, it works GOOD, and it's totally FREE. RegSeeker includes a powerful registry cleaner and can display various informations like your startup entries, several histories (even index.dat files), installed applications and much more. With RegSeeker you can search for any item inside your registry, export/delete the results, open them in the registry. RegSeeker also includes a tweaks panel to optimize your OS. Now RegSeeker includes a file tool to search for duplicate files, bad shortcuts and more. RegSeeker is FREE for personal use only. DriverMax: DriverMax is a new program which allows you to easily reinstall all your Windows drivers. No more searching for rare drivers on discs or on the web or inserting one installation CD after the other. Simply export all your current drivers (or just the ones that work ok) to a folder or a compressed file. After reinstalling Windows you will have everything in one place! Most of the situations when Windows is running slower are caused by faulty driver installations. FREE SOUND SOFTWARE LINKS: The Great Kazoo: The Great Kazoo was designed to create interesting, randomly generated music / noise from directories containing sound files (.aif, .wav, .mp3) on your computer. You can fiddle with the randomly generated music in realtime. Excellent when using acid loops. Also generates randomly generated Kazoo music, (but how long can you handle it??) Use our recording tool above to record your creations. Try setting up a directory of sound loops, some drums and a couple of piano or guitar loops plus whatever else and see what kind of randomly generated music you can create.
