"Renew My
Faith"
Written, produced & performed by Bryce L.

Featuring Billy Roberson on Electric Guitar
1st verse:
It's two o'clock a drive-by in
broad daylight
Wow! I haven't seen one
o' these since '95!
Right next to my church
Thank God no one was hurt
But I got this feelin' in my
soul I been burnt
2004 and I see the nines are
still clickin', see
Just like before when I though
I'd die
It just sickens me
Try to think of a time when I
thought my family was safe
But I think it's time to renew
my faith!
(ahhhhh)
Chorus:
When I start thinkin'
things'll never change (Renew
my faith!)
When I think that my mind
needs rearrangin' (Renew my faith!)
If I feel like my spirit's
finished learnin' (Renew my faith!)
And I feel like my 'hood
is steady burnin'
(Renew my faith!)
When I see that the
killin' is all too real and (Renew my faith!)
If I slip, then I'll fall, I
start to feelin' like
If I just can't seem to get my
faith on the ball
Then I might as well not have
faith at all!
(ahhhhhh - Renew my faith!)
Refrain (Narrative):
Ah, see now that's my problem!
Seems every time I run into
some stumblin' block
I start thinkin' it's all over
"Oh boy, here we go again,
back to my old tricks"
But see really, that's not how
it works
And thank God for showin' me
that!
(James Chapter 1 verse 2 reads,
"Consider it pure joy my
brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds
Because you know that the
testing of your faith
develops perseverence")
I am not perfect. Only
God is!
And so long as we keep tryin'
to be close to him
He will keep renewing our
faith in him
Even though we falter at times!
That is the blessing of The
Lord's love
We have but to accept
Now the rest of the story goes
like this
2nd verse:
Now this place I grew up just
ain't the same
Hardly see all the gangstas
runnin' game
At seven o'clock we put the
yuppies to bed
Ain't thinkin' every single
night who's gonna be windin' up dead
Down the street used to be the
head shop and
If you knew the right dude,
you'd get a glock
But times are changin' I dunno
which is worse
The wealthy buy out the ghetto
And bring their own curse
They get new people in the
'hood and they don't make 'em aware
'Til someone's shootin' up
their street to let'em know it's still there
Now all this hopeless
desperation's bringin' somethin' to light
To keep my faith in God above
I'd better be willin' to fight!
(ahhhhh)
Chorus:
When I start thinkin'
things'll never change (Renew
my faith!)
When I think that my mind
needs rearrangin' (Renew my faith!)
If I feel like my spirit's
finished learnin' (Renew my faith!)
And I feel like my 'hood
is steady burnin'
(Renew my faith!)
When I see that the
killin' is all too real and (Renew my faith!)
If I slip, then I'll fall, I
start to feelin' like
If I just can't seem to get my
faith on the ball
Then I might as well not have
faith at all!
(ahhhhhh - Renew my faith!)
3rd Verse:
When I start thinkin' all
about the troubles and fright
Then I got to remember the man
who gave up his life
Times ain't so hard when you
think about it that way
Even then he died on the cross
for sinners today
Do ya believe in Jesus?
Is he savin' ya soul?
Do ya believe the Lord above
is makin' ya whole?
Do ya think that maybe you
could give him more praise?
Then I think it's time to
renew your faith!
