Version 4.0 (C) 1989, 1998, 2007 by Bryce L. Tomlinson
Remember those Color 64 BBS's (Bulletin Board Systems) that were all the rage back in the 80's? Don't you remember those great intro graphics and menu graphics that dazzled you when you went "On Line" back then? There were graphics contests, picture galleries, visual adventures and more as a result of this "new" technology that had come knocking on our door. Here we were, online, and seeing graphics! Amazing, eh?!
There were various programs used to create those graphics. CBM Keyboard Graphics, PETASCII, CGFX, or whatever you want to call them. Here is the program that most believe beat them all. Kaleidoscope Version 4.0. The "Mother Of All CGFX Editors". Once it was uploaded to Q-Link (the grandpa system of AOL, which was for C64's and C128's only), it quickly became one of the most downloaded files of all time on their system. People from all over the world were using it, and with good reason. It is solid, bug-free, and packed with features that no other CGFX editor ever obtained. Today, there are Commodore BBS's that have gone on the Web, still running on their trusty ol' C64s (and only ONE that I know of that is still dial up!), many of which still use Kaleidoscope as their primary (or ONLY) graphics program.
