Protect yourself against the Conficker Worm "Virus" and others!
Step 1: Go to Microsoft.com and install this security patch, MS08-067 released in October 2008. Select the version of Windows you are running and select "Download" to get the patch. Save it to your desktop and double-click the item in the desktop when it is done downloading.
Step 2: Download Avast! FREE Antivirus and install it. Then use the instructions at: http://www.ahearttowitness.com/blog/2009/03/how-to-schedule-daily-virus-scans-using.php to schedule daily scans on your system.
Step 3: Follow the directions in BetaFlux's Avast! video to setup Avast! to run all internet traffic through Avast as a proxy.

A: A virus is usually a result of something you've done or obtained. Like Cousin Bob that comes over and gives you the flu. Bob means well, but he still got you sick. A worm sneaks in through any kind of hole it can find in your security. Despite your best efforts, it gets in. Like a catburglar with the bubonic plague.
